Program

In this set of 2 workshops, Professors Pedro Campos and João Mendes Moreira will introduce you to the basic fundamentals of Web Analytics, the CRISP-DM methodology for web data, the main data collection and modeling techniques and different search engine typologies. The workshops focus on business users and aim to empower participants with concepts, techniques and tools related to Web Analytics that allow their implementation and application to improve their business.

Pedro Campos holds a PhD in Business Sciences from the University of Porto (2008). He is currently Assistant Professor at Porto Business School, where he has taught subjects in the areas of Statistics, Data Analysis, Data Mining and Information Systems of the various study cycles, being the present Director of the Postgraduate Course in Business Intelligence & Analytics. He is a member of INESC TEC's Artificial Intelligence and Decision Analysis Laboratory, responsible for the Modeling and Simulation line, and Deputy Director of the International Statistical Literacy Project since 2009, where he has performed international functions in the promotion of statistical literacy. Pedro Campos is currently Vice President of IASE - International Assotiation for Statistical Education since 2017. His areas of interest are Data Science, Market Research, Social Network Analysis and Computational Economics (particularly Multi-Agent Models). ) with applications to Demography, Business Networks, Marketing and Population Dynamics.

João Mendes Moreira holds a PhD in Engineering Sciences from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto and has been conducting research on topics related to machine learning such as Machine Learning and Ensemble Learning. Since 2008, he has held the position of Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto and is also a Researcher at the Artificial Intelligence and Decision Support Laboratory of the Institute of Systems and Computer Engineering, Technology and Science. In addition to being an evaluator in several internationally renowned scientific journals, João Mendes Moreira was awarded a Best Paper Award in 2014 for his article "Merging Decision Trees: A Case Study in Predicting Student Performance" and co-author. from the book “A general introduction to data analytics”, published in 2018.
